From July 1, 2025, homeowners and small businesses installing an eligible battery system paired with solar panels will receive an instant rebate of around 30% off the upfront cost. This is made possible through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), generated based on the battery’s usable storage capacity. 

The government purchases and retires these certificates to fund the discount, about $370 per kWh in 2025. Installers manage the process via the REC Registry, so you get the rebate as a point-of-sale discount with no paperwork. The sooner you act, the higher your savings, with rebates tapering off until 2030.
