Solar Panel (PV) Rebate
The flagship rebate for owner occupiers installing a rooftop solar system at an existing Victorian home. Applied directly at point of sale, so you pay less upfront on the day of installation.

Federal STC Discount
Every solar installation in Australia qualifies for Small-scale Technology Certificates under the federal Renewable Energy Target. The discount is built directly into your installer’s quote, no separate number needed up front.

Solar Victoria Loan
In addition to your rebate, you can opt into an interest free loan of the same amount. The loan is paid directly to your solar retailer, further reducing your out of pocket cost on installation day.

Solar for Rental Properties
Landlords, known as rental providers, can claim a rebate of up to $1,400 on solar panel installation for up to two rental properties per financial year. Renters benefit from lower electricity bills.

Federal Home Battery Discount
Pair your solar panels with a CEC approved home battery and store excess solar energy for use at night. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program currently discounts a typical 10 to 13kWh battery by around $3,000 to $4,200, applied upfront by your installer.

Who Qualifies for the Solar Panel PV Rebate?

Owner Occupier
You must be the owner and occupier of the property where the system will be installed. The rebate is also available for homes that are under construction.
Income Under $150,000
From 1 July 2026, your combined household taxable income must be $150,000 or less per year. Previously the cap was $210,000. Over 80% of existing Solar Homes customers remain eligible under the new rules.
Property Value Under $3 Million
The property where solar is being installed must be valued below $3 million, for an existing home, or once construction is complete for a new build.
No Prior Solar Rebate
The property address must not have previously received a solar panel or battery rebate under the Solar Homes Program, and must not have had solar installed in the last 10 years.
Authorised Retailer Required
You must use a Solar Victoria authorised retailer such as Silicon Solar. We upload your quote directly into the Solar Victoria portal and manage the entire process on your behalf.
